My husband and daughter were not thrilled when I came home with Roscoe. They both made that pretty clear.
They agreed that we didn’t have room for two dogs (at the time we still had our 16-year-old Shih Tzu, Maggie). They also agreed that we didn’t have room in general for a big dog. Our house just wasn’t big enough. Blah, blah, blah..
Even though my daughter had just recently been “caught” holding hands/paws with Roscoe, she wasn’t completely sold yet.

My husband approached my decision to bring home a big dog with making a fuss that I needed to understand that big dogs need daily exercise. This was going to include daily walks and, at first, he was going to semi-angerly make that happen.

It was interesting how he cared so much about ensuring that Roscoe was exercised, but “we didn’t need another dog.” Either way, each day he would insist that we HAD to “exercise Roscoe.” Very quickly he began to take a lot of interest in the different places we could take Roscoe. To the point he began to search online and plan places to go. You know, to take the dog he didn’t want to different places they could explore…(and this was only the beginning of the adventures).
Mind you, Roscoe has begun living his best life. It didn’t take him very long to figure out he hit the motherload for a family and he was thrilled. He showed us this by way of really making himself at home.
Roscoe was “managing” to fit right in, and you could tell he was feeling more and more sure he was here to stay for good.

Then this peculiar thing started happening.
In the same way my daughter and husband agreed we didn’t need another dog, these two had both done a 180 and now were all but swooning over this dog. It was like they finally gave up resisting how perfect this sweet boy is for our family. When they gave in, they really gave in.
The bond had been made and now it only grew stronger by the day. It was actually pretty awesome to watch, and “heartwarming” barely describes the feeling when you realize the entire family is now “all-in.”

So, to all those out there who have ever said, “We don’t need a/another dog,” —especially you husbands…..just admit it. You love them. You need them. You now can’t imagine life without them.
Just remember, it takes a little sacrifice from everyone to bring a new dog into the family—-I mean, look, even Roscoe had to learn how to take one for the team.

Oh I LOVE all of the photos! You can tell he loves y’all and he is equally as loved!❤️❤️❤️
