It’s finally raining at my house and not just some random pop-up shower, it’s really coming down. There’s something about pouring rain that makes me get lost in my thoughts.
Today was a good day for me. I didn’t get productive until the afternoon, but at least I was slightly productive—and that’s a win. I’ll take’em when I can get’em.
I took our dog, Roscoe, to his annual check-up around 2:00 PM. We have decided to not take both the dogs at the same time as they tend to get overwhelmed by all the smells, sounds, and other dogs; they seem to get a bit protective of each other and us. Anyway, we get to the vet about 15 minutes early and conveniently were able to go on back to a room. Roscoe is our bigger dog of the two and has some “fangs” on him that could do some damage if push came to shove. However, he is our whiner. Bless his sweet big-baby heart.
He whines as he smells all the other dogs’ scents on the ground, and I could hear him whining when he went back to get weighed and nails clipped. Speaking of weight….last time Roscoe was there he weighed 69#; today Roscoe weighed in at 77.2# Yikes!
Thankfully, the vet didn’t fuss and said he actually looks really good and doesn’t have a “table-top” figure yet, haha. I couldn’t help myself from trying to justify his weight gain by mentioning that our hikes/walks have been significantly cut in frequency due to this ridiculous heat, however, his appetite and intake remain the same. (Same goes for his humans…sigh.) Hopefully we will see some cooler temperatures sooner than later and be able to put some more miles under all of our belts.
Needless to say, Roscoe couldn’t wait to get home and be sure that I hadn’t done something terrible with Daddy and Buffy and that nothing else weird was going to happen today. He will likely be snoring before too long with all the excitement he has had today.
Following the vet, I ran to CVS and picked up some meds and sketchbook my son needs for art class. I was pretty pumped there was no line and that my meds were free. (Only because I managed to give the insurance company so much money already this year.) Either way, two “wins” at the pharmacy in the same day puts a little pep in my step. Guess it doesn’t take much some days, haha.
As the evening rolls in the next thing on my list is to go pick up my “click-list” at Kroger. I’m quite fond of not having to pour sweat putting my groceries in my car, but now I am sitting here and looking at all the rain coming down and wondering if I should wait some so the Kroger worker doesn’t have to get drenched despite a raincoat. Our plan here at my house was to grill hamburgers….however, we have a knack for wanting to grill and then it rains. We shall see what the weather does and go from there I suppose.
In closing, there is nothing really special about this article today–more of a journal entry, if you will. The point of this was to give you a little glimpse into what a “regular” Thursday looks like for me these days while reminding all of us to never forget to appreciate these “regular” moments in time. Days where nothing particularly great – OR horrible happened; days when life just happens.
Sometimes I forget to actually stop and be thankful for all that I have – today was my attempt to really make a point to do that. I want to encourage you to do the same. Celebrate the days that get us from point A to point B in life and may we never forget the significance of “regular” moments.
